Community Grazing Tour
The American Canyon Fire Protection District, in partnership with Napa Firewise and regional partners, invites the community to attend an upcoming Grazing Tour highlighting innovative, environmentally responsible wildfire mitigation efforts.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 4, at 10 am and will offer residents a firsthand look at how targeted grazing is being used to reduce fire fuels throughout the district.
Location: Silver Oak Park, 485 Silver Oak Trail
Through ongoing collaboration with the City of American Canyon, Napa County / CAL FIRE, and Napa Firewise, American Canyon Fire continues to implement sustainable strategies that enhance defensible space and reduce wildfire risk while preserving the natural landscape.
Attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Learn how grazing supports wildfire prevention efforts
- See the animals in action, including goats, a livestock guardian llama, and a trained sheepdog
- Gain insight into how these partnerships are helping protect the community
“Preparedness in American Canyon means ownership at every level,” said Acting Fire Chief Campbell. “This project brings together our community, our partners, and innovative tools like targeted grazing to reduce risk in a way that’s both effective and environmentally responsible. Everyone has a role in keeping American Canyon fire safe, and this is one example of how we’re doing it—together.”
The Grazing Tour is part of the district’s broader commitment to community risk reduction and aligns with ongoing efforts under the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and learn more about how American Canyon continues to take meaningful steps to remain fire safe.
