The American Canyon Fire Protection District is accepting applications for the position of Battalion Chief to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. The District is seeking experienced fire service professionals who demonstrate strong leadership, sound decision-making, effective communication, and a commitment to developing and mentoring others.

Recruitment Information

Salary: $164,297–$190,194 annually (includes FLSA pay), plus applicable incentive pay

Panel Interview & Assessment Center: Friday, November 13, 2026
Chief Interview: Tuesday, November 24, 2026

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Five years of municipal fire department experience.
  • Current service as a Fire Captain or above.
  • At least four years of responsible supervisory experience at the Fire Captain level.
  • Current California Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification or a valid California Paramedic license.
  • A valid California Driver License (Class B or Class C with Firefighter Endorsement).

An Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, including coursework in fire science or a related field, is highly desirable.

California State Fire Marshal Chief Fire Officer Certification is also highly desirable.
