During an emergency, information can spread quickly. Photos, videos, social media posts, and live streams may appear within minutes, but they may not provide the full picture or reflect the most current conditions.

Information shared by the Fire District and our public safety partners is verified before it is released. This may sometimes take longer than an unofficial post from someone near an incident, but it helps ensure the information we share is accurate, reliable, and useful when making decisions about your safety.

Help Us Share Accurate Information

During an emergency, you can help your community by:

  • Checking official sources first for current information and instructions.
  • Sharing official posts and updates rather than reposting unverified information.
  • Directing friends, family, and neighbors to official sources for the latest information.
  • Checking the time and date of an update before sharing it, as emergency conditions can change quickly.
  • Avoiding speculation or unconfirmed information that could create confusion or interfere with emergency communications.

Accurate information matters during an emergency. By sharing information from trusted, official sources, you help us make sure your family, friends, and neighbors have the information they need to make informed decisions and stay safe.

Where to Find Official Information

Emergency Alerts

ALERT Napa County is an emergency notification system used to provide important information during emergencies. Notifications may include evacuation information, road closures, shelters, severe weather, public safety incidents, and other emergency information. Sign up before an emergency so you can receive important notifications when they are issued.

If you do not want to create a profile with ALERT Napa County, you can text your ZIP code to 888777 to be included for notifications. To sign up for the Spanish text-only alerts, text AlertaAmCan to 888777.

Not every emergency response requires a public update. Some incidents are limited in scope and don't affect the broader community. When public communication is needed, we work to share verified, reliable information as quickly as possible.
